How to Play Pontoon

Pontoon Manhattan SlotsHow to Play Pontoon. Pontoon is the British version of one of the world’s most famous casino games, Blackjack also know as 21 in some places. There are literally hundreds of different forms of Blackjack. For those who are newly 21 or of the gambling age and don’t quite know what Blackjack is, it’s a game that usually consists of 5-8 players, can be more or less but 5-8 is comfortable, the more players the more decks that are needed. There is 1 dealer, and each player plays against the dealer. In Blackjack everyone at the table, including the dealer is dealt 2 cards face down. This is after each player has made a wager. If your cards total nowhere near 21, you’ll want to say “hit” this indicates to the dealer that you need another card. The alternative to that if you’re at 21 or close, is to say “stand” most will want to do this after they have 15.

Card values are important to understand here, 2-9 are taken at face value where queens, jacks, kings & 10′s are all worth 10 points. Aces are either 11 or 1. If you are dealt 2 cards on the first hand that are the same, a player can “split” their hands which is when a player makes an additional bet and creates 2 separate hands. In Pontoon, players can only split face cards that are alike for example 2 aces can be split, 2 kings, 2 queens but not a jack & a queen. If a player reaches a tie with the dealer, the dealer automatically wins. If the player or the dealer goes over 21, they are the loser of this round.

Something others may refer to when playing Pontoon; A “Five Card Trick” This is when the player has 5 cards that total or are less than 21. When you let the dealer know you need another card (hit) you can only ask for a maximum of 5 cards, thus the name 5 card trick! When a player reaches 21 even, this is called a “Pontoon”. One thing a player should know when playing Pontoon is that the dealer always wins when it comes to an equal hand. Some might ask what is the difference between Pontoon & Blackjack? The games are very similar, however in this form the dealer always goes last & the players don’t know what cards the dealer has until the very end of the round, which makes it more exciting!
